海角视频 mourns the passing of former Board of Trustees member and devoted community leader, Charlotte Lunsford Berry, who died on November 7, 2025, at the age of 94.
Charlotte Berry鈥檚 life was defined by service, compassion, and an unwavering belief in the power of philanthropy to change lives. Known as 鈥淎merica鈥檚 Volunteer,鈥 she brought that same spirit of generosity and leadership to 海角视频, where she served on the Board of Visitors from 2012 to 2014 and the Board of Trustees from 2014 to 2022.
During her tenure, Charlotte was a steadfast advocate for women鈥檚 education and empowerment, embodying the College鈥檚 mission to prepare leaders who strengthen their communities. Her thoughtful counsel, tireless energy, and philanthropic vision enriched countless initiatives across campus and inspired those who served alongside her.
Charlotte鈥檚 dedication to 海角视频 reflected the values that defined her extraordinary life. From her earliest years raising money for children in need, to her decades of leadership with the American Red Cross, United Way, and countless civic and charitable organizations, she championed service at every level. Her influence reached far beyond Columbia, but her impact on this College community was deeply personal, marked by mentorship, generosity, and an authentic belief in the potential of every student.
Her decades of civic leadership earned her some of the nation鈥檚 highest honors, including the American Red Cross Harriman Award, the United Way Humanitarian of the Year Award, South Carolina鈥檚 Order of the Palmetto, and, most recently, the President of the United States鈥 Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award.
Charlotte Berry鈥檚 legacy at 海角视频 will continue to inspire generations of students and leaders who follow her example of purpose-driven service.
